30gm TubeChemical Name: FLUOROURACIL (flure-oh-YOOR-a-sill)

Common usesThis medicine is an antimetabolite used in the topical treatment of actinic (solar) keratoses, which is a skin growth caused by exposure to sunlight. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.

Before usingSome medicines or medical conditions may interact with this medicine. INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are using. DO NOT START OR STOP any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions, allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding. USE OF THIS MEDICINE IS NOT RECOMMENDED if you have a certain metabolic disorder (dihydropyrimidine dehydrogenase (DPD) deficiency). Use of this medicine in children is not recommended. Discuss with your doctor the risks and benefits of giving this medicine to your child. Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns about taking this medicine.

DirectionsFollow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. APPLY ENOUGH OF THIS MEDICINE to cover the affected area. DO NOT BANDAGE OR WRAP the affected area, unless directed otherwise by your doctor. Wash your hands immediately after applying this medicine, unless they are part of the treated area. Rubber gloves may be used when you apply this medicine. STORE THIS MEDICINE at room temperature at 77 degrees F (25 degrees C), away from heat and light. Brief storage between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C) is permitted. Keep the container tightly closed. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF THIS MEDICINE, use it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. DO NOT USE 2 DOSES AT ONCE. If you miss more than 1 dose of your medicine, contact your doctor. Use this medicine regularly to receive the most benefit from it. Using this medicine at the same times each day will help you to remember.

CautionsDO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE if you have had an allergic reaction to it or are allergic to any ingredient in this product. THIS MEDICINE MAY CAUSE increased sensitivity to the sun. Avoid exposure to the sun, sunlamps, or tanning beds. DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE for future skin problems without first checking with your doctor. DO NOT USE OTHER TOPICAL MEDICINES or skin products without first checking with your doctor. THE TREATED AREAS may be unattractive during therapy and for several weeks after treatment has stopped. AVOID GETTING THIS MEDICINE IN YOUR EYES or on the inside of your nose or mouth. FOR WOMEN: DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE if you are pregnant. IF YOU SUSPECT THAT YOU COULD BE PREGNANT contact your doctor immediately. IT IS UNKNOWN IF THIS MEDICINE IS EXCRETED in breast milk. DO NOT BREAST-FEED while using this medicine.

Possible side effectsSIDE EFFECTS, that may occur while using this medicine include reddening, itching, burning, soreness, tenderness, scaling, or swelling. Some patients experience symptoms of eye irritation including burning, sensitivity, itching, stinging, or watering. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY if you experience abdominal pain, bloody diarrhea, vomiting, fever, chills, sore mouth or throat, or unusual bruising or bleeding. AN ALLERGIC REACTION to this medicine is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, or trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.

If you take too muchIf overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. This medicine may be harmful if swallowed. If this medicine is accidentally taken by mouth, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.

Additional informationDO NOT SHARE THIS MEDICINE with others for whom it was not prescribed. DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE for other health conditions. KEEP THIS MEDICINE out of the reach of children. IF USING THIS MEDICINE FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME, obtain refills before your supply runs out.
