Common uses
This medicine is an imidazole antifungal medicine used to treat athlete"s
foot infection that occurs between the toes. This medicine is only for use in
patients with a healthy immune system who are older than 12 years of age. This
medicine may be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.
Before using
Some medicines or medical conditions may interact with this medicine. INFORM
YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that
you are taking. DO NOT START OR STOP any medicine without doctor or pharmacist
approval. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions including irritated
skin in the affected area, allergies (especially to other imidazole antifungals
such as fluconazole), pregnancy, or breast-feeding. USE OF THIS MEDICINE IS NOT
RECOMMENDED if you have problems with your immune system. Use of this medicine
in children under age 12 is not recommended. Discuss with your doctor the risks
and benefits of giving this medicine to your child. Contact your doctor or
pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns about using this medicine.
Directions
Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. Clean
and dry the affected area before applying the medicine. Gently rub the medicine
until it is evenly distributed to the affected area and to a small section of
healthy skin that surrounds the area. DO NOT BANDAGE OR WRAP the affected area
unless directed otherwise by your doctor. Wash your hands immediately after
using the medicine. STORE THIS MEDICINE at room temperature at 77 degrees F (25
degrees C) in the original container away from heat and light. BRIEF STORAGE
between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C) is permitted. TO CLEAR UP YOUR
INFECTION COMPLETELY, continue using this medicine for the full course of
treatment even if you feel better in a few days. Do not miss any doses. IF YOU
MISS A DOSE OF THIS MEDICINE, USE IT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. If it is almost time
for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing
schedule. DO NOT use 2 doses at once.
Possible side effects
SIDE EFFECTS that may occur while using this medicine include dry or burning
skin, skin tenderness, redness, or itching. If they continue or are bothersome,
check with your doctor. CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you
experience peeling, blistering, swelling, or oozing in the affected area. This
medicine may also cause darkening of the skin where it is applied. AN ALLERGIC
REACTION to this medicine is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if
it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash, itching, swelling,
dizziness, or trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above,
contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.
If you take too much
IF OVERDOSE IS SUSPECTED, contact your local poison control center or
emergency room immediately. THIS MEDICINE MAY BE HARMFUL IF SWALLOWED. OVERUSE
OF TOPICAL PRODUCTS may worsen your condition.
Additional information
If your symptoms do not improve or if they become worse, check with your
doctor. DO NOT SHARE THIS MEDICINE with others for whom it was not prescribed.
DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE for other health conditions. KEEP THIS MEDICINE out of
the reach of children. IF YOU WILL BE USING THIS MEDICINE FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD
OF TIME, be sure to obtain necessary refills before your supply runs out.
